I decided (for a couple reasons) to share on line what some of you know already as I have shared with you in person.
Now when I say three weeks recovery I mean in more ways then one.
First… I can’t wait to get out of here. I have been working myself to death with only one week’s holidays in the last 31/2 to 4 years. So just the fact that I will be out of Toronto and this office for three weeks is enough to breath a huge sigh of relief. Been a bit stressed out lately to say the least. (Mostly work related)
Second… When I say recovery I also mean in what some may take as the traditional meaning of recovery. As in recovery from an illness or injury. Most certainly my disease of alcoholism / addiction has taken it’s toll of late. It’s time that I took some serious action to get my life back on track. So I am off to a treatment centre up north for a 21-day program.
The program I am attending allows no outside contact at all to avoid any distractions that will detract from the reason why one is there. Except for an emergency. I don’t think that "I need to sign on TERB" or "I need to go to a BP/BBQ" will count though. LOL.
So I said I am sharing this for a couple of reasons. Here they are.
One… I wanted to bid all farewell… but, I’LL BE BACK.
Second… In recovery circles we have a saying "secrets will keep you sick" so now my secret is out.
Third… I will be back and still would like to have the honor, if I may, of organizing and attending some of our fine TERB events. Now not to worry I have been in recovery before (Last time I went to the very same centre I stayed clean 'n sober 4&1/2 years when I got out) and usually after a few weeks I can go to a bar without being tempted. So long as no one tries to push a drink on me. Go ahead push all the dances or DANCERS on me that you want though. LOL
I could list a couple more reasons but I’ll save those for later.
In the mean time I will be back on-line maybe later tonight for a bit or sometime tomorrow. Then on Sat. morn I am off. Back in 21 days. Take care, gonna miss you all.
Cheers.
