No, it's rap that sounds like "crap".:D

Some bands just have a "signature sound", doesn't necessarily mean all the songs sound the same.

That's hilarious. I think it is just the same kind of arrangement rather then them sounding the same. But that is funny...:D

'Crap' doesn't even begin to express my contempt for this band. I just drove back from California last month and there were only 3 things you could ever 'depend on' so far as radio play was concerned-The Religious Right, C+W, and Nickelback/Kelly Clarkson/Green Day(but only that one song) being played once an hour! Thank Fuck I had some Forgotten Rebels, Dropkick Murphys, Pink Floyd and Pixies CDs that I didn't send ahead of me. Oh Yeah, occasionally you could also get ESPN Radio, too, but it always seemed to be sporadic during any damn hockey game!
Cheers.

Someone' out there has gotta like the sound of them.
Nickelback is huge, but the biggest bands are also the worst ones. I think Nickelback's fanbase is mostly rural hicks (and people from brampton).

Once you leave Toronto, people's taste in art takes a nosedive. I've lived in Ottawa and Edmonton not-too-long ago, and radio stations there still play Guns n' Roses or (G n' R) like they're still popular.

Btw, went to Cannonball first time tonight. Fuck that's a shithole. Definite Nickelback, G n' R crowd. :p

Pearl Jam's TEN had a signature sound.

Nickleback's first couple of singles ever were good... but lately their sound has been very crappy indeed.

Chad has made sure that the band Theory of a Dead Man sounds just like Nickleback.

way out in left field
A couple of things to remember:

1) If you use the same musicians and singers, of course every song from the same band will be similar
2) A band writes more songs than it puts on the album err I mean cd. Sometimes they through down songs with similar melodies/arrangements not really intending them to be on the same release.
3) A "popular" song will have a certain beat, lyrics, melody. To be a hit in North America it has to have these criteria. Unfortunately the masses follow this program to the letter. Think Britless Speerchucker, Christina Anuglareola, etc......
4) NB is no worse than every Rap song ever written. If one of those "artists" (and I use the term loosely) ever came up with an original idea the rap world would fall apart....and don't even start me on Blues/Jazz musicians like Steve Ray Vaughn. I love his music but sheesh...

Judas, sorry to tell you, but Goober already posted this before.

Yeah, just like crop circles and the Bermuda Triangle, the popularity of Nickelback is a mystery to me.

I try not to read Goobers posts, they usually turn out to be a crap load of people trying to be funny by making a goober`s mom jokes. Just look at Cardinal Fangs post in that thread. The next time I post something I will make sure I do a search beforew I post anything.

Based on my unscientific obversation they seem more popular with women than men. I think women find the lead singer's voice to be sexy. Also he's definitely not unatttractive.

Personally, I don't care for them. I usually switch the channel when their song comes up.

Everlast for sure...

...or Creed, once you've heard the song and seen the video for Shirt Wide Open you've seen and heard everything they've ever done.

Personally, Nickleback is just OK, they're college rock with nothing special to offer. They are typical and they owe their success to CanCon.

Nickelback were OK in their earlier days but as soon as they struck on a formula that worked they have stuck to it. This trading of creativity for formula usually results in one more big selling album befrore they quickly fade into obscurity.

There is another band in the US who's songs all sound the same and they are the largest selling rock band in US history.

...Bon Jovi (over 100 million albums sold)...

It doesn't matter if Nickeback's songs all sound the same because there is a market for similar song sounding bands.
