Roger Clemons, a great pitcher with an even greater ego, finally gets some on 60 Minutes tonight for all his steroid taking. Never answers Mike Wallace as to why his trainer would lie, or even any plausible explanation other than "never happened".

No shit, he tells Mike that he won't ever pitch again, as if it's his decision.

The ego that roared.

If he had a brain, he'd come clean. It's not as if he's not in good company. Should have said "everybody's taking" etc.

In exile from Madisen!
Why did he choose this platform to state his case?
Is it just his word against the trainer? Clemens did challenge any one to come forward who supplied him with steroids during the years when that trainer wasn't around him. He actually won Cy Young awards during seasons when that trainer did not allegedly inject Clemens.
Just throwing that out there.

Rather convenient for Clemens to choose someone like Mike Wallace to do the interview with. These two have a personal friendship and Wallace has been known to be a bit of a softie.

I still lmao when I hear him say he should have gotten a break or the benefit of the doubt for his 24-25 years. Although there had been some suspicion of him uisng PEDs, it was no where near what Bonds went through. So he did get a break, people just seemed to let it go with him. The guy was a great pitcher, but he is a phoney.

He really has no choice. He has to sue, and pray that he can drum up a good legal team and hope for some inconsistencies in McNammee's story.

Bottom line is he got busted and now he's scrambling to spin spin spin.

This reporter nails it and made me laugh:

http://www.mercurynews.com/sportsheadlines/ci_7901810?nclick_check=1

"Roger Clemens might want to check his calendar and notice that the year says 2008. Because his whole look on Sunday was so 2005.

Clemens finally spoke out in his own defense in a "60 Minutes" segment that aired Sunday night - 24 days after he was the headliner in the Mitchell report on steroids in baseball.

"I don't believe in it and I didn't do it," Clemens told his friend/interviewer Mike Wallace.

Was Clemens convincing?

Maybe under either of these conditions: (1) if you happen to be a huge Rocket fan, just as the Barry Bonds uber-fans still find something to believe; or (2) if you just crawled out of a cave where you spent the past five years missing everything that has gone on in the world of performance-enhanced sports. Then you might have been convinced of Clemens' innocence."

The innocent man......

...does everything to clear his name.

When asked to take a Polyygraph.....he faltered....had heard it can and cannot fail.

The Polygraph is HIS OPPORTUNITY to clear his name...but he hedges...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

I felt that..."He doth protest too much"...to be innocent....

Clemens has filed a defamation lawsuit against his former trainer, Brian McNamee, according to a report in Monday's Houston Chronicle.

I heard an interesting take on Jim Rome show today. Could this be a legal strategy on Clemens' part? Going before congress, he is not going to plead the 5th, however, this will be just like it. All he can say is I have legal proceedings pending. The timing of this sure is right. We'll see how it plays out.

What else is Clemens supposed to do? Admit it now? NO WAY. never happen

Life is not a Little House on the Prarie episode... where little roger admits he made a mistake, Pa makes him go over to the Olson's to apologize, Uncle Bud makes him chop 100 pieces of firewood, everyone forgives him and they all live happily every after.

Clemens admits it now, and he becomes a bigger villian than Barry Bonds. Why? As bad as it is now, there are still many many many people who will give him the benefit of the doubt. His fans still have something to hold on to. If he admits it, many (perhaps most) of his fans will turn on him. Those who dislike him will not suddenly give him credit for it. So he has nothing to gain and everything to lose by admitting it.

Unlike our man Ben Johnson, there is NO FAILED DRUG TEST for either Clemens or Bonds. The "proof" that we have is ONE guy who is under duress and will say anything to stay out of jail and/or get his 15 MINUTES OF FAME.

Don't get me wrong, I believe that Clemens took steriods or HGH. And that he knew he was taking it. But at the end of the day there is NO real proof.

Unless there is some sort of Clemency (yes it was intended), no current or former player will admit it (at least not the ones still desparately holding on to any shred of dignity that they might have left... ) Guys like Canseco might provide some insight... but how the hell do you believe anything they might have to say (true or not??).

One last thought. He admits it, he can kiss the Hall of Fame goodbye. He does not admit it, he get in...

Anyone familiar with these types of injections? I have very little knowledge of medicine so please help. I believe that the reason for using a needle to inject Vitamins (B12) is that it is more effective than taking pills or drinking it. (can anyone verify that).

Is it normal practice for athletes to have Vitamin injections?

Lidacaine: same question, is it normal for athletes to get injections of painkillers as part of their training regimen? I have received injections for my knee once before a big game, but as part of a training program?

Clemens seems to be setting this up for the Barry Bonds excuse. "I did not knowingly use PEDs".

Excellent point... Clemens is playing to the tune "An innocent man does everything to clear his name", and hoping that people don't look too closely at his actions.

His actions seem to be coming right out of someones PUBLIC RELATIONS TEXTBOOK. Now that I think about it, is sounds alot like a page from Bill Clintons text book...

what i can tell you (any my sources will remain anonymous) is that b12 injections are used by a certain diet doctor in canada...they stimulate the metabolism and help burn fat (i just saved you a sh*tload on treatments)

as for the other injections, i've heard of it done in extreme cases for pain and joint discomfort - but certainly not on a regular basis - as would be the case for 'roids or hgh

if he wants to play 'dumb', i think it will only come back and bite him in the ass (much like the b12 injection as the buttocks are considered the primary injection site because of the large muscle mass)

Thanks Benny

That is good info. So how do I get some B12? Any volunteers to stick the needle in my ass? Anderson, I know you been watching me!!! :p (for all the youngsters out there.. this is a reference to one of the greatest comedy routine ever performed--Eddie Murphy Delirious)

This is quite funny. Almost as interesting as watching America's Choice for the next president:

1. A Republican
2. A Black Democrat
3. A Female Democrat

2008 is starting out to be a very fun year!!!
