It amazes me how during this time of year, GMs throw around First Round picks like they're nothing.

Look at these average players that fetched a First Rounder:

Coburn to Lighting (2015 1st)
Vermette to Chicago (2015 1st)
Sekera to LA (2015 1st)

At least with Franson (2015 Nashville 1st) & Yandle (2016 NYR 1st) they're solid players and the pick is justified.

When Dion is moved later today, I guess the Leafs can count on at least a 1st coming back.

Teams planning on going deep in the playoffs aren't counting on their draft picks to amount to much. Not too many impact players drafted outside of the top 20. You can always pick up 3rd & 4th line players later when you need them.
