colts / pats match up

I'm leaning towards NE at home to cover the 3 1/2.

Although the new pass defense rules strongly favor the Colts, it'll be interesting to see if the refs drop the flags as often as they did in the preseason.

The Pats offensive balance was made tougher with the addition of Corey Dillon....Bradys arm is not an issue here (his arm is money everytime) and I htink the Colts can neutralize Rodney Harrison only if they can run the ball strong, then pass it deep. The Pats play both the 3-4 and the 4-3 up front and Harrison likes to play in the box like a LB. If he goes unchecked he will run all over the inside. Manning might have a tough time throwing against the corners of the Pats (Law is still out there).

Will weathere be a factor? not sure....but NE has owned Indy the past few years - no reason to see why that would change.

mrpolarbear - I have to agree...im liking the Falcons (Sf was the victim of the off season cap fire sale) and the Titans(Mia is in a world of hurt -no RB, no Boston)...im iffy on Az covering inside 12.5 but that's a long line, the Rams will have to have a hell of a game....keep in mind ttough the Rams' defensive line is hurting and Seahorn is golfing. They might not cover 12.5 - Arizona is looking good to cover.

As for the Bears......hmmm....they're having a rough time right now - Urlacher (after a horrible year last year) is limping on a gimpy hamstring, they're trying to learn a new defense and I think the Lions are bound to break their 24 game road losing streak....If they do this is the best time to do it. The Bears will get better as the season goes, but I don't think they're ready yet.

sorry, I didn't know you used the Pro Line spread, sometimes the Pro Line are different from the real spread.

I'm in a Pick 5 league, where you pick 5 teams every week against the spread. Whoever has the most picks right at the end of the year wins 60% of the pot, 2nd place wins 30%, 3rd place wins 10%. I may be in over my head, but my picks for the first week are:

Pittsburgh -3.5 over Oakland
Buffalo -3.5 over Jacksonville
Tampa Bay +2.5 over Washington
San Francisco +4.5 over Atlanta
Detroit +2.5 over Chicago (sorry Mr. Polarbear)

Last place finisher gets his money back so I have something to shoot for.

Off to a good start -

Miami got white washed by the Titans - Titans covered the 4 1/2 easy.

Weird though....they played the game today (Saturday) because of the hurricane.

Who pays for the entry fee if you come in last?

I guess no one. I play for free.

And it looks like I am well on my way to finishing last. Got only 2 of 5 picks today--San Francisco beat the spread vs. Atlanta, and Detroit won outright over the Bears. Buffalo was covering vs. Jax, until the Jags scored a last freaking second td. Pittsburgh was covering vs. Oakland, but the Raiders tied the score with 5 minutes to go. What a pisser. Tampa Bay was just a stupid pick.

most people are betting on Panthers to-night, the line jump from 3 to 3.5.

I'll go the opposite and take the Packers +3.5

I like Tenn (-1) over Indy, Green Bay (-8.5) over Chicago, Detroit (-3.5) over Houston, Cleveland +4.5 over Dallas, and Miami +4.5 over Cincy. Amazingly, I am not in last place yet in my Pick Five league. There are guys who got 0 picks right last week. Looks like I'll have to step down my game.
