Last year was an amazing year for stocks. Typically, the year following is not good. Also, we had no Santa Claus rally, and years in which there are no Santa Claus rallies tend to be very bad for stocks.

A failure to rally in that stretch is seen by some market analysts as a signal for more rough sledding ahead.

"Years when there was no 'Santa Claus rally' tended to precede bear markets or times when stocks hit significantly lower prices later in the year," wrote Jeff Hirsch, editor of the Stock Trader's Almanac & Almanac Investor Newsletter.

Wondeirng if it makes more sense to put my money into cash making 5% and zero risk rather than the stock market this year, which could give back all the gains from last year, or even more. The Mag 7 seem to be overdone, and people are selling and taking profits.

I agree. People will flee to bitcoin in a financial crisis. It’s a good hedge. I plan to diversify and invest in bitcoin, emerging markets and international markets

It all depends on you abilities. I say cash now, buy at the bottom.
