Rogers is moving away from Norton to a company called Radialpoint for their security software as per links below and they told me I have till end of June before Norton security stops working.

Just wondering before I delete Norton and add on the new Rogers security software whether anyone has downloaded the new program and if so did you have any problems with it?
Thanks.

Yeah, I had all sorts of problems with it at first. It loaded fine on my other two pcs but my main one? Kept telling me to uninstall and reinstall.

Finally got on the rogers online help and they found that I had an outdated something or other from microsoft, they deleted it, reloaded a new version, and when I reloaded rogers it worked fine.

One thing you have to be careful of when you load it: check all the default settings. They are set to delete your browsing history and cookies etc.

Also check for their scheduled scans. I seem to remember the default is to do a complete system scan every morning (ridiculous).

They also check hourly for updates to virus databases which is totally retarded.

I also had a problem with it not allowing me to sign on to my web based email through outlook. Their solution was to turn off email filtering. They assured me that I was still being protected from email virus' however.

When you do a complete system scan it is also setup to scan ALL files everywhere. Even files in your recycle bin. I ran one for 8 hrs before it completed. Even though I went through and de-selected folders I knew to be safe....

All in all it is less strain on the system than norton, but still not as good as CA.

(btw, you should download the norton removal tool from the symantec website. Norton puts shit EVERYWHERE).

I'd forget Rogers supplied crap if I were you. Install AVG. It's free and works.

Okay, thanks for all that info.

Tboy, thanks for the settings info and thanks for tip re. Norton removal tool.
Phoned Rogers last night and when I asked about removal tool to get rid of all the detailed Norton programming he referred me to this site in case anyone else is interested:

It is download tool #1 for most people who use Vista or XP.

Also, Rogers told me the engine for the Radiapoint security software is provided for them by Kaspersky.

So, it sounds like Kaspersky has kind of "badge engineered" a security software program for Radialpoint if my understanding is right.
