Happy holidays fellas. I had the misfortune of getting a flat Christmas Day. Now the hunt for a set of 2 good priced used tires. Anyone know Of any good cheap tire places where I can get 2 P285 45r22 tires. That's the size I'm looking for. All seasons preferred
Mississauga preferred but if you know some one at a good price ill travel. Thank you in advance.

Shop around... get new. Safety knows no pricetag! ESPECIALLY during the winter months.

Unless you are getting them for rock bottom prices, it may be a false economy to buy used tires. There is no such thing as useful tire tread life with anything less than a 30% tread life. Once a tire goes less than 30% it has reached the extent of its life expectancy and will not give you good grip and your anti-lock brake system will be engaging often. Around this time of the year, Canadian Tire ( and other tire shops ) will have specials of 25% of new tires ( winter and summer ) because nobody is thinking winter tires at this point unless there is a monster snow storm. People are also not interested in all season tires at this time because of holiday bills due.

If you have to go used, you will have to take pot luck at the auto scrap yards.

Total agreement with the 30% commentary.

Question becomes, what is left on the other two tyres?
And, where was the puncture? If it's in the tread, if it was just a nail, it can be plugged - perfectly safe if the right mechanic does it.

And what tread do you have remaining on the other two tires?
If you can find a used pair that matches that similarly (go in and inspect, don't just take their word for it), go with it. If not, go shopping for some new tread.

Costco is always a decent place for prices too; and if you have the black membership, you do get that bonus 2-5 percent cash back (whether you just have the membership or the Amex).

Check out Standard Auto Wreckers in Markham. They have a used tire department. They will not sell any tires with less then 80% tread .
Bought snows and rims for 250 installed. This is the second winter i have got out of them

CTC won't have anything on special in that size ... it is for a premium SUV / truck with large factory or aftermarket wheels.

I was in a rental car that had bald tires. I almost died doing a 360 spin across all lanes of the 401 in front of transport truck. NEVER cheap out on tires. Period! It is just not worth it.

You can probably get a good deal searching on kijiji. Put the size in the search parameters, and search for the entire province you are in, just in case there is a set available in a nearby town. If u buy used keep inmind the age of the tires in addition to the tread. The year of manufacture in on tires and you don't, want something beyond x age.

The two most important things for your car are 1) Good tires and 2) Good brakes. You can cheap out on anything but those two.

If u can scrape together 400$ than definitely buy new tires.
Go to consumers tire on bridgeland and specifically ask for Larry. He's a low key honest straight shooter who look after u.

I am not a tire expert or mechanic. And while I agree with all the comments that you shouldn't cheap out on tires or brakes, how often do you change tires? Do you change them after 6 months, maximum 1 year? If not, then what's the difference finding quality used tires that have been on a previous vehicle for 6 months or 1 year? Or 2 years for that matter. Suppose the previous vehicle got totalled in a crash just after the tires were changed? From the comments above, it seems that tires get changed every 6 months or maybe less. If that's the case, I sure would like to get your used tires, of course depending on the condition. Tires cost a fortune, and I am not talking about the standard Canadian Tire ones.
