Be careful of parent company IrisTel (lots of horror stories on web about them, check out the current NetTalk debacle)

This is basically $19 a month for 200MB of data. It uses VOIP for calls. You can get data cheaper and run your own VOIP program on your cellphone and getter better value for your money.

Wrong. This service also works even when you don't have Internet access. You only switch to VoIP when you have Wifi access.

If you are not connected to wifi you get 200mb worth of data a month, your voip calls will use up the 200mb of data. I am not implying that this plan is a wifi only plan because if it was a wifi only plan then it would not be a plan, it would be a piece of voip software that you pay $19 a month to use which is retarded.

I think you can get 500mb-1GB of data from bell for like $20 a month, just run a voip program and it would be identical to this sugar plan except you have alot more data available for calls/text/surfing.

I ran into a few agencies that will not allow me to book SPs using VOIP, so I would avoid using this service for a hobby phone even if it was actually good value which it isn't.

Probably you should read the Sugar Mobile website a bit more carefully - this phone will work exactly like your Rogers or Bell cellphone.... the only difference being that you can switch to VoIP when wifi is available which btw I can also do on my Rogers/iPhone except that I don't save much money by using VOIP on my Rogers phone. So how would the phone be an issue with booking SPs, I don't get it?

That is not at all true lol

The 200MB + 600 minutes is used when not on WiFi
When on WiFi you have unlimited calling

To clarify.

If you have wifi then the VOIP goes through wifi and no data is used.

If you are not on wifi then the VOIP goes through the cellular connection using up your 200MB.

You do not get 200mb + 600 minutes of talk time over cellular connection, 200mb will give you 600 minutes of talk time. If you are not on a wifi network and you talk 600 minutes, you will have 0 MB of data left.

This plan is basically 200mb of data for $19 a month.

Bell Tablet only plan, aka data only, http://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Cell_phone_plans/Tablet_PC_data_plans#pay_your_tablet_upfront
$20 a month for 1 gb if you buy a tablet from bell, $20 a month for 500mb if you bring your own tablet. You can substitute a phone instead of a tablet.

Virgin mobile, data only, http://www.virginmobile.ca/en/plans/details.html#!/tablet
$20 a month for 1gb

711 speakout has 100mb for $10 a month, which is the same value as the sugar plan.

Those are only the plans I could easily find, there are many more data only plans out there that are better value than $19 for 200mb

If you ever tried calling steve from TOG, well back when it was ok, he would not accept bookings if you used VOIP.

Now I do not know the exact reason why, but it probably has to do with the fact that you can get a free VOIP number in 5 minutes.

But in that scenario you can't txt as you claimed
You also note they very clearly say no tethering so you can't even hotspot your real phone at same time without being anally raped

The original post you tried to argue was for talk txt & data
Your best reply is a data only plan where you need to pay Bell $500 for a tablet up front? (or byod and get half the data)

My VOIP service does text as well as voice.

The $20 for 1gb says no tethering, the $20 for 500mb does not have that limitation. Even though 500mb is half the data vs the 1gb plan, it is still 2.5x the data of the sugar plan.

The $20 for 1gb from virgin also does not have a tethering limitation

I use VOIP.ms, I think I pay around $2.50 a month for all my voice calls and text, but is the business use and I need a good quality VOIP provider.

For personal stuff, you can use freephoneline.ca, they have a free app that gives you a VOIP number, unlimited talk time, and text.
