You do know that Ford sold Jaguar more than six years ago, right?

No, that won't beat the 3 unless it drives better than a 3.

They are good if you want to drive something uncommon. But I doubt it will be as mainstream as the 3.

Jag would be fools if they put something out that was not competitive.

I think it will take some market share away from BMW. It will sell because it will be the flavor of the day, The BMW 3 series has had the same look for 15 years and needs to be updated.

I personally think the new C-class beats them all at this point. Jags never had the tech capability to compete.

The jag looks like a jag...which is to say not much because it's current design theme is boring. At least when it put out the Mondeo based X type under ford, looking like a jag meant looking different. Now I can't tell the XJ from 20 yards away. The only jag that seems to be worth a look is the new F type. The F gives me wood.

Oh look. Yet another formerly great car manufacturer build a generic chiclet. Not to be confused with every other fucking generic chiclet out there. Yawn.

True. The jags from 10 years ago look like something else completely. The badly reviewed S class from the early 2000's still stands out to this day.
plus the owners are TATA, lacking experience of BMW and merc in performance and engineering.

When Ford owned Jag, they almost killed it. Jag engineers and designers were told in no uncertain terms what they were going to build and what we got was Rebranded Fords.

Tata to their credit has let Jag be Jag and we have gotten the Ftype (which I covet) and the XJ and now the above. God bless you tata

For Jags...don't you need two at any given time...you drive one while the other is in the shop! At least that what I was told many times when I was looking for a classic. Happy to own a Mercedes and MG.

For Jag to be relevant again they have to embrace their past and build cars that flaunt it while kicking major ass. The market will pay attention if their cars wrestle it away from the conventional players by being genuinely good. Look at what Lexus did back in the day with luxury cars, what Cadillac did in recent years and what Nissan is doing to supercars with the GTR. Good is good. Tata must make sure Jag is damn good.
That's what the F-Type is doing. It's going back to the roots. Just like the E-type. It's promising to go toe-to-toe with Ferrari at a fraction of the cost.
