the new bylaw effective on Jan 1/06 requires licensed agencies to keep a data base of all clients including full names, addresses and dates of birth. The city claims the right to acces this info on demand.

Hell we rarely get a real first name so the rest of this is fantasy.

Johns stand up for your right to privacy and fight this stupid bylaw.

I'm sure city hall would be shocked to see how many cops, lawyers and judges are clients let alone the client on city council who may have helped pass this piece of shit.

Thinking about outing him.

Would that be wrong?

First I would ensure that he actually voted to pass this.

No matter who he is or how he voted, disclosing the name or any other information about a client (city council member or otherwise) would be absolultely 100% wrong!!! No qualifications - doesn't matter if he's a two-timing, dirty-rotten double crosser or otherwise. You gotta be big enough to live with the politics.

If this ever passes by council, I'm sure it will be challenged in the courts as an invasion of privacy and contrary to our Charter of Rights, or something to that effect. lol I hope those politicians know what they're doing.

I'd like to know exactly how my dirty politicans use these services. I've never known politicians to be "clean" anyways.

Well if he passes this, the go ahead and out him. After all whats good for the goose is good for the gander!! Do it and don't feel guilty at all!!

Fake name, fake address, fake birthday. Besides, there are privacy laws in Ontario that may forbid the disclosure of this info. A propesctive employer cannot ask for that info, why can an SP? I cannot give you my birthday Alexis because you may discriminate on the basis of age.:rolleyes:

It already passed and came into affect on January 1st.

Now how does one go about challenging it? I can't imagine anyone wanting to out themselves to take city hall to court.

Can anyone suggest a good lawyer in this area who specializes in municipal law and preferrably also has some criminal law experience?

How about the lawyer works for Misty? He was the lawyer who helped Cafe at the Park beating the criminal charges 5 years ago.

Seems like an easy solution to this.. they may ask for your info now, and the city may legally be able to obtain said info , however, said establishments (I highly doubt) will have any authority to demand identification.

Simply find out the name and addresses for whomever voted for this, and give that info whenever asked.

I guess we are to demand to see photo ID and then write all the info down....and then just stare@each other becuz the bylaw prevents touching now.

Excelent idea!

If you were to give false identification to the police, that is one thing, but the City of Barrie is not the police, so use the City of Barrie council member's name, and then we will see what happens.

I never go out with ID. I had my wallet lifted by a dancer at Bunnies, with close to $800, and got ripped off by the waitress at Crossovers on night, as well as after the incidents of MPs, clients being robbed after midnight, on hwy#7 a few years ago. So I take just enough cash to play with, and of course, the TIP. If I get pulled over, I can recite my licence to the police, and just tell them I lost my wallet.
