and I think you're right that perception of sizes can be subjective.

I don't. If I'm right either the pic is inaccurate or the measurement is, that's all I'm saying.

Maybe it was a typo, maybe she meant to type 16, who knows.

I tend to trust what she said. Look at the differential between the measurements she gave for hips and bust -- it looks right. ---- and that's coming from someone who often goes "hmmm" when comparing pics to stated measurements.

But 26" is actually TINY for a waist. It might not seem like it because we see so many "fudged" measurements, but actually it is. To test this for yourself, pick up a dressmakers' measuring tape at the store, wrap it around to form a loop and see for yourself just how small a 20" or 22" waist would be. Then check out 16".

I just tried it, and frankly, I'm pretty sure my very petite daughter had a waist larger than 16" as a baby. That's pretty small! I don"t think you'll find too many women or even adolescents with a waist that size.

As a matter of fact, I just checked Gap's kids' site for girls' sizing for little girls maybe 6-12. (http://www.gap.com/browse/sizeChart.do?cid=2100) Check the chart -- in the "slim" sizing section, the smallest waist measurement for the smallest size on the chart given is 19".

So that should tell you something.
