Looking to put a good burning program on my PC. Is this latest and greatest version of Nero still considered the best? Used Nero Express on my old PC and liked it the best. Does this Nero version play well with Vista?

Why don't you just demo it? Nero seems to look more and more like Easy CD Creator, so I'm guessing 8.x is trash.

I believe 8.3.2.1 is current version, and yes, Nero has steadily become official Bloat-Ware. Early verions of 8 series is a bit buggy and some have gone back to 7 series because of that. My feelings, is unless you plan on burning Blu-Ray, series 6 or 7 is still damn good.

Now if you are one that uses all the other stuff outside of the Rom Burning software, I'm sure 8.3 has something for you. Still a solid burning product (I stay away from all the other stuff).

My 2 1/2 cents for the day!

Thanks for the tips

Installed the Nero 8.3.2.1 Demo.

What a beast compared to Nero Express which I used with XP. Nero 8.3.2.1 seems to do everything, it's a pretty big app.
Will have to take some time to wade through.
Burned my first audio CD which seemed simple enough to figure out. Hope the rest goes as well.

Play with all the little apps then uninstall the ones you don't think you'll ever use. Or better yet, if you like some of them, research some standalone apps that do the same thing but better. I find that Nero is a really good burning tool.. other than that.. not!

Nero 6 seems to be the favorite amonst the geek community - works well, no glitches and smaller overhead. I have been Using Roxio on my PC and find the utilities good but the programme is a hog.

I gave up on Roxio years ago. I like Nero better because it puts the album title and song names on the CDs so they show up on the players. My verison of Roxio didn't do that.

When I don't have to convert files or clean them up I use iTunes to burn CD's puts all the data on the CD and does a great job and couldn ot be easier to use.

The one thing I don't like about Nero Ultra 8 is that you can only install it on one computer.
It has smart software built in to figure out if the disk has been installed on another computer and if you are person #2 on install list you get to use it for 30 days and then you are punted out.
With Nero 7 you could install it on 10 computers no problem.
