Tyson is OK, entertaining, and affable. His demographic appeal is geared towards American levels of education.
Better is Brian Cox. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Cox_(physicist)
Better still is James Al-Khalili, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Al-Khalili
Best is Matt O'Dowd. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_O'Dowd_(astrophysicist)

They all have channels on YouTube.
Not exactly in the same category, but I want to put in a good word fot the CBC's Bob McDonald. Explains things well with the right amount of enthusiasm.

Without Carl Sagan we are fucked, everything he spoke against is becoming reality.

Neil Degrasse Tyson is a communicator foremost. He showed up on the Jim and Sam along with Vilent Jay of the Insane Clown Posse. It could have been a disaster, NDT didn't treat VJ like a dunce. VJ admitted that he didn't have much formal education, by the end of the interview NDT had him hypnotized.
