Canada...
I need to send emails to a group of people/ organizations, is there a program to extract emails from a sector list of websites?

So far on a google search, I have come across, but I don't if these software programs are any good, etc.:

http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Email_Tools/Mail_Clients/Extract_Emails.html

http://www.brothersoft.com/downloads/email-extractor.html

feel free to post a reply here or PM, many thanks!

Also does anyone have a list of emails for media contacts in Canada, such as assignment editors, etc.

It is for a lawful non-profit and the people they want to email are elected officials/ politicians, senior civil servants and the media:

http://www.ontla.on.ca/web/members/members_current.do?locale=en

http://www.cna-acj.ca/client/cna/cna.nsf/web/online?OpenDocument&nLoc=5.1

http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/canada.htm

Is there free/ inexpensive software that can extract the email addreses from the pages above?

Another example, these non profits/ etc. made these lists, but they may be dated, etc.:

http://www.angelfire.com/folk/sovereignty/letters.html

and it easily lets me get a txt list, with commas:

I am sorry I would not help anyone who wants to spam. If they are legitimate charities they would haven't people spamming for them.

For the record:

This info is for a lawful Canadian non-profit.

1.

We/ they are not spamming, as clearly evidenced by the examples of who we/ they want to email [public officials and the media]. There is no abuse planned, these will be lawful communications on matters of Canadian law, policy, etc. These are not being sent indiscriminately. I can assure you, Members of Parliament can and probably will report spamming to the proper authorities [ISP`s, RCMP, etc.), so we/ they would not do anything unlawful.

re:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_(electronic)

Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, mobile phone messaging spam, internet forum spam and junk fax transmissions.[citation needed]

2.

FYI, any member of the public may email/ fax/ write a public official on a lawful matter, that is democracy, no?

Does Canada have anti-spam laws?

No. The distribution of unsolicited promotional and product information over electronic networks per se is neither illegal nor regulated in Canada. However, fraudulent practices and misleading representations are illegal, and privacy laws require an individual`s consent to the collection and use of their e-mail address where it can be traced to them.

U want something to harvest names from web sites?
They should have a mailing list or have a PR company or person with such lists for their market sector. Regardless of whether they are lawful or not they sound lazy.
Plenty of scripts out there to harvest content and emails....
