About 20 years ago I remember reading a series of paperback novels from my school library that (IIRC) were all written by the same author and were works of fiction (mostly?) about the Germans fighting on the Eastern Front during WWII. They were very graphic and they were great pulp fiction for war buffs. They always had cool looking covers depicting action/battle scenes and the title was always in big block letters at the top. The characters by and large remained the same from novel to novel. One guy was named "Tiny" and another guy was "Krestcher" or something like that (he eventually died).
Horst Wessel (I know, it's a song) rings a bell so I can't remember if the author's name was Wessel or something like that.
Can anyone help identify these books? I'd really like to try and get a hold of them again.
