I have a toshiba laptop, the adapter output is 19V 6.3A
I also have an HP laptop, the adapter output is 18.5V 3.5A
Are these adapters interchangeable, more interesting is can I use the toshiba adapter on the HP without causing any damages
Both have the same plug in jack.
thanks in advance

I would be able to help you out if I know how old these machines are. There is a store in toronto that carries ac adapt. for all/most older models at a very good price. They are located on wilson ave. just before duff. If interested pm me

I venture it will be OK, based on the fact my Toshiba laptop adapter output is 19V, 3.95A but the li-ion battery output is 10.8V, 4000mAh. Seems there is a wide allowable acceptable variance in play.

i'd say the voltage is close enough, but i'd use a meter to make sure the + is in the same place on each.

FWIW, not sure that matters larry.
Just looked at my Toshiba laptop AC adapter and see the AC plug looks like a common table lamp plug that can be plugged in either way. It lacks a wide prong polarized plug, forcing it to be plugged in the same way all the time.

the wall plug (AC) can go either way. the feed to the laptop is dc. (actually, i'm sure you are well aware of that. this is more of an aside to others). might be Ok. might not.
