Need a router that does bandwidth throttling per connection

My real problem is that I have someone in the home who likes to watch Netflix on his PS3, and everytime it does, it kills the network for anyone else online. It just hogs all bandwidth. So is there a router out there that will do this, isn't too expensive?

You can set the quality of service (QoS) settings on your router. Pretty much every router made in the last few years has it.

Most routers do QOS now, however if your router is more than four. years old I suggest you upgrade. I activated QOS on my old links us and it just started dropping connections like crazy fr everyone due to the CPU.

I upgraded to the E4200 and that solved the problem.

To enable QOS you will need to assign static IP addresses or know the MAC address of the device you want to give priority too. Machines that don't need any priority like the PS3 you can just leave.

One other suggestion is to log into you Netflix account and lower the quality settings.

Thanks for the input, guys. My router does QOS and it doesn't do one bit of good. However it doesn't have the ability to turn it on per connection, it's just on or off for everyone.

But I was really hoping to find something that does bandwidth throttling per connection.
