I'v never been to Toronto before, but may be making the trip this weekend. My question is there are two Marriotts in town Eaton Center and Renaissance Skydome. Of the two which has the best location for bars, resturants and entertainment. Will be bringing a companion and need an all round location. Thanks Panhead

The Eaton Center is more central - right in the heart of downtown. The Skydome is even south of the entertainment district, but a bit better for a number of places on John and Front Street.
I think it's just a matter of taste, but I'd go with the Eaton Center location.

The Holiday Inn on King is right in the middle of the "Entertainment District". Nice place, good views and weekend rates too boot!

I'd go Skydome. The surroundings are less seedy and there are plenty of good restaurants close by, the closest are probably the ones on King between John and Spadina.

Do you HAVE to stay at one of these 2 places? I'd stay nearer to Yorkville, either at the Renaissance Yorkville, Four Seasons, Park Plaza (Hilton), the Intecontinantal, or the Windsor Arms (best). These are the best located hotels in town, IMO.

I'd also go Skydome............Youre right in the heart of the entertainment district, close to great food(very important to meet) and theatres.

The problem with Skydome is that it's so far south. King Street is just about exactly halfway between the two - meaning that the clubs / restaurants of Adelaide are closer to Eaton Center.

The entertainment district is *closer* to Skydome, but you're not exactly "in the heart" (being south of the railroad tracks, and all).

FWIW.

I think the Skydone location is a little bit closer to entertainment and restaurants. The Mariott EAton Centre is actually on Bay a bit north of Old City Hall, so it's pretty central too, and much closer to Chinatown, so it would be a toss-up. It's also closer to some of the better incalls in town too!

It's a matter of personal preference, really. I stay at the Skydome all the time simply because I've gotten used to it, and some of the staff know me there, so I've been able to get a few perks along the way, such as complimentary room upgrades etc. Marriott also has a points program for free nights.

Everything downtown is within walking distance or a short cab ride. You could visit a few of the hotel's websites and compare amenities and rates.
