In another thread I had said that Shaq is the MVP.
Ah...can I change my vote?
I know playoff performances don't count towards the MVP title but anyone that can do what Nash has done the past few games deserves any award he's been given. Wow. He almost got his second consecutve triple double. Missed by one rebound. (How can a point guard his size even get 9 rebounds!!!)

WTF is up with Bill Walton saying Nash is not very athletic? I was glad to hear the other ESPN guys chastise him for it!
Walton was a great player in his time, but he is a really terrible commentator.GlavaMan said:

There is now another school of thought on this... With the success of guys like Dirk Nowitzki, Peja Stojakovic, Ginobili, Kirilenko, Arujo et al... Athletic players that did not grow up in North America... some believe that it might be a mindset in N.A that prevents "white kids" from achieving all that they can...
Nash is extremely athletic...there is no doubt about it... I don't know what his vertical is, but his hang time is very good...
P.S. just kidding about Arujo being athletic...

I agree, Walton was a great player but he still has a 'burr up his ass' and it has effected his commentary. The other commentators play on it & it can be entertaining. They were comparing Nash to Nowitzki as leaders the other night. Nash was always positive & encourging his teammates while Dirk was ragging on his. One guy(Hubbie Brown?) said Nowitzki reminded him of Walton!

Nash played a hell of a game, as did Amare Stoudemire. But as predicted in that same Shaq MVP thread by yours truly, Nash was unable to stop either Tony Parker or Manu Ginobili.
Steve Nash is a hell of player, and the Suns are a hell of a team. But the game is up now. His / Their inability to defend will be their demise against the Spurs...as predicted in that Shaq thread by yours truly.
It isn't just abut keeping the score up or down...as the Spurs showed, they are pretty athletic themselves, and can play the running game. It is about being able to get a stop when you need one. The Spurs can. The Suns cannot..in part because Steve Nash cannot guard your average NBA point guard, let alone a talent like Tony Parker.

I think you nailed it, s&e. It is inconceivable that a white guy could possibly be as athletic as a black guy, so if a white guy succeeds, it is because he is plucky or worked really hard. I mean, if you really want to get picky about it, I suppose you could say Nash is not as athletic as say, Stoudamire, but he's still way more athletic than average.slowandeasy said:
