Everybody is tribal. That's normal. Government should not be. Real simple. That dumb woman should have been fired.

Tea party group on defensive over blog about NAACP

By BECKY BOHRER, Associated Press Writer – 34 mins ago

AP - An official with the Tea Party Express on Monday blasted its expulsion from a national coalition over its refusal to oust a former chairman who satirized the NAACP in a controversial blog posting.

The political action committee that raises money for Republican candidates was booted from the National Tea Party Federation for refusing to rebuke spokesman Mark Williams, whose posting referred to NAACP president Benjamin Jealous as "Tom's nephew and NAACP head colored person."

This is one guy in a movement of millions. Show me an organization out there that doesn't have their share of racist bigots. 99.99% of the Tea Party movement isn't racist.

And where would that special knowledge come from?

There's racist people of every colour or political stripe. I't's not hard to find a few racist people in any group, even in the NAACP or the tea party. To write off a whole group of people because of a few bad apples is irrational and morally wrong.

I don't see the problem.

She did say in the end, that it was more about helping the poor, than black v. white.

It IS an NAACP convention; you're going to talk about race.

Seems to me she's describing an incident in the past when she WAS racist, and even that is debatable. She DID help the farmer to some extent. AND she's saying that she was probably wrong about that (not assisting him further).

Where is the Tea Party on Arizona's new immigration law? Aren't they against big government?

BS!!!!!
They slyly encourage it like the 'Good Ole Boys' in the USA used to in the past.
Teabaggers are nothing more than an updated KKK without the white Robes.

Many Teabaggers state they want to rid the USA of Blacks, Immigrants and Jews.
Their ideal is an all White AmeriKKKa!....

Supposedly, they're opposed to government spending which results in increased taxes.

Interesting that they only came out during the health care debate, when taxes will be taken from the middle classes and used to pay for health care for the poor (read, black). At least in their mind.

But where were they during the Bush administration, which lowered taxes, and increased defense spending at the same time, creating the massive deficit?

Whats the matter, are you guys jealose that a black women has more power then a white man? How long have white men been racist towards black women? Black women are the future, and I hope one day they will run Africa, because men have been fucking it up for so long.

I may be missing something but was not the story she was telling leading up to her saying that she had learned a lesson?..that it was not so much black and white but rich and poor? I do wish they had included the entire speech.Anyway from what I have read she has lost her job.

I wonder if those racists(they are) from last summer holding the racist posters(they were) concerning the president got any less then a hi-five from their colleagues?

Im fine with her losing her job if she is racist, because racism or reverse racism even if its against white men is wrong. But if she were a white man, who had done that to a black women, he would have been promoted, well at least in the past. If he had done the same thing to a white women he would have been promoted and given a bonus.

Affirmative action is good for some things. Feminism is dead.

I don't think she's racist at all, her organization is supposed to help black people advance in society. When you favour one group it doesn't mean you're against another group.

If I was a john that got fooled by a bait and switch operation I wouldn't expect help from SPOC who are looking out for prostitutes. I bet they would be sympathetic though, just as that woman is concerned by the plight of poor people in general.

Perhaps she did (she says so) seemingly the NAACP disagrees since they issued a statement denouncing her. Certainly that she resigned her position with the USDA would indicate that all is not as it should be.

Of course the NAACP wishes this would all go away since it is hard to label the Tea Party Movement racist, when there is a video of your own Convention seemingly having no problem with her tale of discriminating (and violating a number of Federal laws while doing so) further in video of her talk she seems quite happy about her actions, rather then regretful.

Finally an intelligent response to my post

.
From the news this evening, it appears that both the Department of Agriculture and the NAACP (and in commenting myself as well) may have acted precipitously, as it does appear that at the end she mentions that this was 24 years ago and that she soon thereafter recognized that she was wrong.

I still, however, remain troubled that she did not seem regretful when telling the story, and her audience was certainly "into it" rather than sounding unhappy.

Stop the presses. Well it seems that the clip posted on the net isn't what it appears to be. This clip was posted after being substantially edited, leaving out some of the more important statements from this lady. Whats more infuriating is the Faux News jumped all over it from their usual suspects, such as Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and the jokers from the morning show.

What was left off were just a few minor details, such as, this happened 24 years ago when she was working for a NPO, AND most importantly, she realized that this was not a racial issue, but an issue of people needing help regardless of race. She goes on to say that after her initial thoughts, she did everything in her power to help these poor white farmers. The family in question has gone on CNN and stated without reservation that this woman helped save their farm and they are forever in her debt. Of course Faux news forgot to do any actual research on the story and ran with it as it was posted on the net.

Oh, and by the way, the website that originally posted it is a far right political action group that are probably all tea baggers.

Goes to show, you can't always believe what you see.

Now I only hope that the administration that was so quick to ask for her resignation, does the right thing and she gets her job back.

Just another lowlife Karl Rove type character assasination.
