My trip to the Hassle Free Clinic

Many of you know about my recent penis problems (chaf-ed to the bone...heh heh). I finally went to the hassle-free clinic a few weeks ago. I thought I'd share my experience so that others will go for whatever reasons of safety and sanity.

First off, it's very professionally run. I called on a Saturday, and was seen an hour later after sitting in the waiting room maybe 45 mins.

The place was jammed. Every seat taken. Lots of gay men (Church and Wellesley is the location) and a sprinkling of straight boys.

You get pre screened, and you get a bit of lecture if you have had any bareback activities. They're gentle, but firm. It's not intimidating, and for some, will be a sobering chat, as we're all so secretive with our hobbying.

Saw a doctor after that, and he was great. Friendly, joked with me, no morality, just laid out the facts. I opted to get tested for everything but HIV since I was there anyway, and I feel better that I did (never been tested for any STD's). Pint of blood, a bit of piss--very painless.

Recently, since I had my chafing scare (nothing as it turns out, just too much fun with my new girl), I have realized that much of my hobbying behaviour was reckless, and have come to my senses. You have no idea what it's like to consider the diminishment of Mr. Happy. It makes everything else seem unimportant. Don't be stupid! It ain't worth for some quick pleasure.

I think we all go through a phase of hobbying where we'll do almost anything to tap the poosy, and perhaps some recklessness is inevitable, but when you face not having a properly working penis or some barriers against full sexual freedom (ie an STD), you can't believe how quickly you reassess!

I urge others to do the same, and go to the Hassle Free Clinic if you have the slightest fear. The place is a great resource, and is funded by the City of Toronto along with donations.

Northwest corner of Church and Wellesley, second floor.

I'm glad I went. :)

By the way, they do not take your name if you are being tested for HIV--it's anonymous.

If you get tested for anything else, they take your name, but do not ask for ID or a health card. The place is easily totally anonymous. You fill out a form before, but you can b.s. about your name.

Again, it's aptly named: Hassle Free!

It is totally anon. - I used to do tonnes of volunteer work with gay men and I believe it is one of the (if not the only) place you can get tested 100% confidentially. I believe even the HIV tests are numeric and not attached to your name (real or fake) that you use when you visit the clinic.

Great non-judgemental service to keep everyone in tip top health!

Sab.

After some exercising some poor judgement in Fantasia several years back, I went to this clinic. I was really impressed with the staff. Fortunately I was in the clear, but certainly learned my lesson. After reading several posts in the Massage section lately, I've been spooked about even getting a BS at an MP. Call me paranoid.
