This actually sounds like something my Mom would have done :yield:

There ought to be a way for children to "divorce" their parents and vice versa.

Suppose a man impregnates a woman out of wedlock. He does the honorable thing, owns up to it and fully supports the child until s/he becomes self supporting. S/he turns out to be an ungrateful idiot that continuously imposes and makes demands of him, and/or abuses him.

I think it is unfair that he cannot get the satisfaction of legally disowning her/him? :abnormal:

It sounds like mom is the kind of person who is only happy when she has something to complain about. I think it makes those kind of people feel superior. I have a family member who is the same way, and the rest of the family gives her a wide berth- nobody likes to be around her, and she's often not invited at family gatherings. But one thing I noticed about her, she never asks why. I don't know if it's because she never found out we were having fun without her, or maybe she knows but is too afraid, or doesn't want to hear the answer. She's the kind of person who doesn't mince words. She's mostly a 'just give me the bottom line' communicator.

I called her out a few times in the past, and it usually changed the way we interacted, for the better. But it's so mentally draining for me.
I've heard the term Arrested Development, it sounds like the mom in the article suffers from one aspect of it.

This is the not the kind of behavior you expect from an adult - not the ones who've actually grown up.

Could this fictitious guy be any more pathetic? He gets a girlfriend (maybe his first) and "Mommy" tries to poison her (presumably to reveal that she's a liar and to protect her baby). Then the guy writes in for advice on what he should do (presumably with no hard feelings for what his "Mommy" did).

Is his name "Norman Bates"?

Many years ago, a woman who used to work for me took her 12 year-old daughter and a few of her friends to a burger shop. She wasn't aware the fries were cooked in peanut oil. Her daughter went into anaphylactic shock and died before she got to the hospital. So tragic.

Like I said, this was years ago and there wasn't the same awareness as there is today. I don't know if the story is legit but food allergies can be a serious issue.
