Who are the best movers in Toronto? I don't mean who has the best prices or what not, but which company is the most reliable and efficient when it comes to moving for a residential unit. Condo to condo. Like who does it the most professinoally? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Oh, are you planning to move out of Penthouse #9? I believe almost every decent size moving company is good. Just make sure that they have enough insurance coverage.

I had a friend once that replied to a mover's classified, he was moving from Sheppard/Yonge area... two big ukranian guys showed up when booked, explained they take payment in cash up front, got the stuff, loaded up the truck and left... the furniture and stuff is still missing. that was in 2001. my buddy was left with over $12,000 in debt and missing $16,000 worth of goods, not to mention the $660 he paid the movers up front...

don't pay up front and make sure you know who you are dealing with.

If it's in the budget........the best thing I ever did was have someone else come in and pack everything. It wasn't cheap but instead of being ass deep in boxes for the last couple of months before you move, they came in and in a day in a half a 4 bedroom house for a family of 4 was packed up and ready to go.

There is a surreal feeling to it in that you know you are moving in 2 days and you haven't packed a single thing yet. Well worth the money to live a normal life almost right up to your move date though.
Money is not an issue. Can you give me the contact info of the company you used. I want a reputable moving company that will do exactly that. Pack and everything moved in a day. Thanks.

Sorry, but I wasn't moved by your question.

Seriously, though...

I had that done 5 years ago but I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the outfit. I do remember calling a few places just out of the Yellow Pages and was quoted significantly higher rates by the more well-known companies. I can't imagine they would have been any better though.

Also, make sure they know that you want them to pack for you. In my case, the guy I talked to on the phone did not understand me or didn't get that across to the guys doing the move. It just meant that I had to shell out a bit more as the rate was based on their time (hmm, where have I heard that before?) and they didn't bring packing material so I had to run out and get it.

Interesting.... I just moved yesterday to a new building downtown. I had to book my movers 4 months in advance since the end of june/start of july is their busiest time.
