More Vista problems

After having used my Vista Laptop for a little while, I decided to get a new desktop PC also. I bought a Lenovo Vista desktop.

Now the problems started. My old trusty NEC laser printer is not supported, and my Trendnet wireless adapter is not supported. The NEC printer is a goner, and the old windows 98 driver will not install. BUt it is old, and I can get a new printer. I have not even tried to connect my scanner.

The Trendnet wireless USB adapter is rather new, but not Vista certified. The driver dids install, after a few tries, but has a strange behaviour. It works great, as long as there is traffic on the wireless, i.e. as long as I am using it. But after a period of inaction, Vista closes down the connection. I wonder if there is a settibg somewhere that can be tweaked, or should I just buy a Dlink adapter, they are not a lot of cash.

I'm getting the impression that a lot of vendors are not creating new drivers for Vista, hoping you will go out and buy new hardware (theirs).

Yes I think Bill says "I have a new os and people will need to buy new hardware, yours" so all vendors agree.
I say fk bill, format and install xp, dont think vista is that much better, read some stuff on PC World and 1 out of 3 have had issues with Vista. No wonder people pirate software.
They just want you to spend more money thats not needed.

Just my 2pennies.

I hear ya, but I don't really want to shell out another sum of money to Bill Gates for an XP licence. I would rater pay HP for a new printer.

Check you vendor site and see if their is a Vista Driver. I've not hear anything good about Vista and not many companies will move to Vista due to all the reported problems.
I've been using Vista for 6 months and no problems now. In the early days there was no new driver for my brand new HP printer and some of my software needed updates, but no problems now.

I'm surprised that Microsoft released the business version of Vista before the home versions shipped. Business need to make sure ALL their hardware and software works before converting, and in some shops thats going to take a year or two. I know where I work they are testing it now but expect another year before implementation.
