With gas going the way it is anyone else looking into a Moped.

For me a bike is out of the question since the distance is too far and I can sometimes be in more then one location. Same with Public transit and carpooling just not an option.
I saw Vespa's are back in Canada. I had one when I was younger and at that time $10 got me atleast 300 km. Appearantly now they are even better.
Don't know how much they are currently selling for or how much insurance cost but I will do some research and report back if their is any interest. Will still need a car but it will hopefully stay parked more often.

Vespa

Anyone come up with any other cost saving methods other then being unemployed.

I ride a Harley, and am about to start riding to work because of the gas prices. Vespas is Canada are great, but currently you need a Class M licence to ride one. There is rumour that may change in the fall (just in time for winter :))

Obviously you can't ride a Vespa on the highway, but for about the city it would be awesome. Motoretta has a shop on College in Little Italy and one in The Beach on Queen East.

Note that you need at least a motorcycle license to ride a moped and that for the price of a moped you could probably buy a used Ninja 600 or some other motorcycle that would leave a moped in the dust.

From what I understood for a moped you only require a G license and the insurance is 50% less then a motorcycle. Don't get me wrong I would love to get another bike but the insurance killed me.

Also I've seen Segways driving around here in RH by the Jewish High School.
They are not allowed in TO?

Can't remember the exact details. I do remember many months back there was something on CITY-TV news about the fact that segways were not street legal. As I understood it they were saying that they could be used on private property only. I imagine if you want to ride one in a school yard or in the park whatever nobody would bother you. But to drive on down the street would be a different matter.

Hey, that reminds me, does BMW make mopeds?
They don't make a moped, but they do make a small motorcycle with a roll cage. I don't believe that they are available in Canada though.

Yesterday I drove out of town on the 401. I saw this lady driving a brand new 5.7 liter Jeep. As I was passing her she seemed like she was crying and thinking 'I wish I would have bought a Moped'.
