I play a KORG.
Cool, when the M1 came on the market it was quite an instrument.

Lately, people are going back to analogue knob twirling again.

And lest we forget, he paved the way to plenty of 70s-style arty porn soundtracks as we know them...

Goober, he was'nt a great goalie - he was a great 1st baseman for the Orioles in the '70's.

Somewhere on a golf course
You are both wrong...

He is a journeyman golfer who once played on the PGA Tour and he WAS a reasonable golf teacher in Florida...Too bad he passed away...

Hmmm...as a Baltimore native and Orioles fan, I believe that you may be referring to Boog Powell, first baseman for the Orioles from 1961-1974.

He currently owns Boog's barbeque in Camden Yards and in Ocean City, MD.

Robert Moog is dead.

He paved the way to electronic music as we know it. Without him we would still be listening to endless Stairway to heaven.

I agree with you. He was an amazing innovator. His work led to development and widespread use of synthesizers, so you could almost say he was the grandfather of New Wave, Techno, Trance, House, Ambient as well as other complete genres of music.

And who could ever forget the melody line of the Moog in Rush's "Xanadu"! (the first time the Moog synth caught my attention).

While many people are turning back to these retro sounds in modern music (Radiohead, Mars Volta, Beck, The Cardigans, The Eels, the list could go on and on), they're mostly using Moog samples, rather than firing up the old machines. They were mechanically fragile, some had extremely limited keyboard ranges, and they were heavier than today's instruments (not to mention that those that are still kicking around are 30 years old!).

So lets hear it for Mr. Moog: Goalie, Golf Pro, Musician, and Electronic Innovator Extraordinaire!

Hey, you guys are all disrespectful to the deceased, never mind that you are polluting my thread. So, unless you are starting to talk about DX7, Jupiter 8, oscillators, VCO and Attack Levels I will report you to the authorities.

Goober, I will take revenge on your next thread. ;)

Mentioning the DX7 is disprectful to Mr. Moog ;) There aint no nobs to twiddle and it's FM synthesis.

Anyone seen/heard the band called New Deal? Most of their songs are one long moog solo.
