I'm talking about the game between NYI's and Buffalo on Thursday, Oct. 26th...

the Sabres are 9-0... NYI's Ted Nolan would love a win against his former team, wouldn't he? i'd say the law of averages means with each win the Sabres undertake, they are at greater odds to lose. it will happen soon, but i gotta admit, it's become somewhat of a freak of nature.

apparently Nolan is very well liked by his players and they would love to do anything they could to provide him with this meaningful win.

is it possible?

Islanders have improved recently, Yashin has been playing pretty good, DiPietro looked solid in his last start as well. I'd say it's possible even though Buffalo has been unbeatable so far. DiPietro will have to make a lot of great saves for them to have a chance to beat Sabres.

I will have to say the Sabres will beat the Islanders. IMO the Sabres have to much team speed for the Islanders to beable to keep up with them. The Sabres also have a better goalie the the Islanders. Like you said DiPietro will have to make alot of great saves and I dont think he can keep it up for a full 60 mins. But then again you never know.

I'll go with the Islanders. I like the Sabers - I have no doubt a moderately healthy Sabers team would be the real Stanley Cup champions last season - however they HAVE TO lose eventually and when they come due it won't really matter who the opposition team is.

No team is going to win forever no matter how red hot it is. The Sabres are going to lose a game or two or go through a period of slump during this long season. But will the Sabres suffer the first defeat of the season at the hands of the Islanders??? Of course, in the world of possibilities, anything is possible. However, the good doc thinks it is unlikely. The Sabres should have enough motivation to tie the longest winning streak set by the Toronto Maple Leafs and go beyond it. I say the Atlanta Thrashers this October 28 may give the Sabres a harder time than the Islanders. We shall have to see.

unlikely for sure, but, the Islanders have been somewhat of a surprise so far this season.

i still think with each game forward, the odds stack up against the Sabres to continue their streak. ain't this exciting?

Except for Ryan Miller the goalie, the Sabres actually did not play their A game tonight and still managed to shut out the Islanders 3-0. Now it is on record they tie Toronto's longest winning streak by winning 10 consecutive games. Come this Saturday will be another interesting test to see if the young Sabres can beat the Thrashers to set a new NHL winning streak record.

they did it with relative ease, didn't they?

if you win 10 consecutive games in the playoffs, that would bring you to a 2-0 lead in the conference finals! might it be nice to see them finish like they are starting...

The Sabres have Ryan Miller to thank in this particular game.

That will be an unbelievably awesome record for the NHL, more like a fairy tale. You might as well extend the fantasy further to say they win 16 consecutive playoff games. That will certainly bring the Stanley Cup into their hockey bag. LOL!!!

It's not a real record, at least one of the games was a shootout, so it's really more comparable to an "unbeaten streak".
Perhaps or perhaps not since the Maple Leafs' record was set with the old rules and the Sabres' is set with the new format. But as long as NHL legitimizes it as winning record, that's all it matters. The calm and cool Sabres have their sights set on the Stanley Cup this time around. If they break a few NHL records along the way, that's great. If not, it is not something that they will cry about.
