So, am I the only one going Broke from the Hobby?
Do you try to limit the amount you Spend each visit (1/2hr, 1hr, multiple hrs) or the Frequency that you visit your favorite SP or Mp (weekly, biweekly, monthly?)
I'm thinking I may have to switch from weekly to maybe monthly (if possible).

It's the same as anything else - if you can't afford it, don't do it. This hobby is not worth going broke over, unless you don't mind asking someone if they want fries with that. Participation in the hobby should be limited to discretionary dollars, only. (IMHO)

The best thing for me was to set a monthly budget, and record my spending.

I don't go to MP's, just SC'c, but my multi-year plan of reduction is still going strong. Just set a budget like has been suggested. And only spend wisely, look for the most bang for your buck. I could end up spending only half this year as I did three years ago. All the extra money in my pocket really motivates me.

I found that I actually spend less going to my favorite SP than when I was going to SC or MP's. Still going too frequently tho. Will have to try the budget thing I guess and hold my self back.

I try to set aside a fixed amount for the hobby and stick to it if I used up the money for that month I have to wait untill next month.

IMHO, that will cost you more in the long run, and you'll get less sex. See the Married thread.

In my experience GF's are cheaper than SP's. My GF's all had jobs and paid their own way; my wife also works and pays a good chunk of our living expenses. Really, though, it's an apples to oranges comparasin. A GF offers a lot more than sex, in fact, a GF/wife can still be a good partner even if the sex isn't great. That's what SP's are for. It's easier to see the difference if you turn it the other way around--you can have a great time with an SP even though you don't love her

As for the money thing, I budget as well. I actually have a separate income stream feeding into a separate bank account. I never use my main employment income for SP's. It's all allocated to mortgage/savings/living costs anyway.

I'm new to hobbying and have rather a lower income. for the past year I've tried to set goals in both professional and personal life. Upon reaching those goals I've chosen to reward myself with a sp. I quess it's what I consider a true spa day for a man. With the facial the other way around.

I think that people who go twice a week go far too often even if they say they can afford it . That $ 200 0r $ 250 for an sp could come in handy if you ever lose your job.

I admit I don't practice what I preach.

I fixed this issue by demanding that all SP's now pay me. I may have to re-work the way I present it as most SP's faces change somewhat when I ask if they are staying an 1/2 or full hour and ask for the money before the deed.

Are any of you having this issue?

Not boasting here but I've been lucky in that I've never really felt the financial constraints of this hobby.

Havig said that, there was a period when I would see one particular lady every 4 - 5 weeks for 2h at a time. This sometimes came to almost $1000 per month. Now that I no longer do this, I must admit that my financial situation has improved noticably.

This hobby is just that - a hobby. It ain't worth going broke over.

I'm simply stating the truth. If the hobby turns into an addiction, you're in trouble. The best thing to do is get professional help, since there are probably underlying issues that can be explored. The same way smoking will adversely affect your health, excessive hobbying will cause your finances to suffer. By the same token, I'm not saying it's easy to deal with, either - but it is worth it in the long run.
