He's been busy getting Eataly off the ground, he had no time to be an Iron Chef. For someone who looks like a giant pear, he's been in the company of some gorgeous ladies. Like his Eataly co-owner Elettra Weidermann. Her mother Isabella Rossellini married into Microsoft money.

As a fan of shows like Fuck that's delicious, Bong Appetite and Dead Set on Life....this show sucks balls.

I'm surprised by that, Batali has been on Fuck that's Delicious several times. Mario makes real minestrone, not that soupy crap.

Here's another surprise, Vice Media is owned by Hearst Communications. A member of that family, Patty Hearst, was kidnapped in the 70's and went along with her captors.

It was spun off as Viceland in Canada owned by Rogers. Since they have a footprint, I was expecting Microsoft. In the early 80's, Isabella Rossellini and Jonathan Weidemann, both models at the time, hooked up and produced a daughter. He was hired by Microsoft to be the CDO of their new OS called Windows.

IMHO Rodney Bowers is Toronto's best Chef, they had to pry Guy Fieri out of his restaurant.

But he's too laid back to carry a cooking show. So they got James "Matty" Matheson to host Dead Set on Life. I've never eaten at his restaurants Oddfellows or Parts and Labour, anyone been there?

Newfoundland born Rodney Bowers got his training working for Lyn Crawford and Massimo Capra, he's surpassed them. If you dined at Massimo Capra's Mistura between 2006 - 11, you ate Bowers cooking.

I've been to P&L. I was high as a kite so don't remember what I ate other than the roasted cauliflower, which still is the best vegie dish I've ever had.

I did not know Bowers was at Mistura and that fact adds to my dislike of him. Here are my reasons

1. Rodney was on that restaurant rennovation show with Lynn Crawford as the chef to help with the menu. This guy doesn't need help from Crawford. He just wanted free publicity and a 15k match to do the renovations.

2. The fact that he is associated with Massimo Capra.

Restaurant Makeover was a sad show, rarely did any of the joints featured find success. The notable exception is Rifka's Mediterranean Kitchen which is still going strong today - fuck her food is delicious! As for Bowers time on the show, it was a publicity stunt, Crawford wanted to showcase her prodigy. The Citizen did receive strong reviews but Bowers closed it before the end of the 00's.

As for Massimo Capra, he arrived in Toronto in the early 80's. He struck gold with Mistura, Toronto didn't have much in the way of Northern Italian fare when he started. He used his connection to Restaurant Makeover to buy the Rainbow Room in Niagara Falls and currently opened a restaurant in Qatar. I agree that he's resting on his laurels with Boccone at Terminal 1, the food is bland and overpriced.

As for Bowers, he took advantage of Crawford's affection but he can't be that bad. He started a program to feed the hungry and homeless in Toronto, he's been promoting it with Marylin Denis.

Capra shouldn't have called his airport eatery Boccone, Bocca Fatiga would be more appropriate. It is a tired place. And he's plagiarizing a San Francisco tradition.

If it comes to pass, I don't know. Eataly will open a food emporium in Toronto in 2019.

It wasn't like Isabella Rossellini was on poverty's doorstep.

Elettra Weidermann has interesting ancestry and she is also quite intelligent: a B.A. from The New School (for Social Research), and an M.S. from the L.S.E.

Mario's sous chef is very attractive, his Babbo Kitchen Chef Anne Burrell is now a star on the Food Network.

Isabella was doing very well at the time she hooked up with Jonathan Wiedeman, she was making more than him at the time. He may not have had the chance to be her second husband had she not needed emotional support to deal with the impending demise of her mother. They married less than year after Ingrid Bergman's demise.

Elettra looks more like her grandmother than her mother.

I didn't know that Martin Scorsese was Isabella's first husband. They must have looked odd together, he's 5' 4", she's 5' 8". They were a couple when Scorsese made Raging Bull.

Latest news: Wonder Woman is projected to break $100 million for this weekend. Not bad for a former member of the Israeli Defense Forces. I'll be watching it later today, review to follow.
