As someone that drives to downtown almost everyday this is the Christmas present I was asking for 😊

I wonder how much this will help with the traffic though.

Yeah just in time for winter, what a bunch of douchebags.

How much will this help with traffic? A whole lot.

It says Doug kicked in $73 mil from the province to speed up construction by a year. Will the Doug haters thank him? Nope, because it doesn't benefit them. Bicycles aren't allowed on the Gardiner.

This is just early finish for the current contract.

Next contract for rehab of section for Humber River out to 427 is already starting with rehab of overpass bridges
Then it will be roadway sub grade repairs, guard rail swap to concrete barriers, new roadway lighting, etc.
So that will go for 3-4 years.

At work we bid on the next design phase, which I recall was from around Yonge to Pricess Gates area.
It was to determine what needed to be done and specify it so the actual works and detailed design for them can ne tendered as a design-build contract.
We lost that bid, but not upset because there was still a lot of fiscal risk in the works.

Then there is design going on for rebuild of ramps from DVP to Gardiner. About Cherry to the railway track crossing.
Again we bed and were not sucessful ,and again lots of design risk.

So rehab for the Gardiner will be ongoing in one form or other for at least the next decade.

Exactly what I was thinking by the Food Terminal, work started months ago and no idea how long that is gonna go on for, at least I don't remember them telling us how long, if they did.
They're going to continually screw everyone that uses the highway. I'm waiting to hear more about the inner city stuff, coming soon.

Well I wonder how that 73m was spent. How much time did it save? Was it overtime? Late night work premiums? In any case 73M to save 1 year of traffic mayhem probably does make sense. More sense then moving the Science center and the Ontario place debacle. I would say its even a win for Comrade Chow.
