Republicans' rush to impeach Vice President Kamala Harris hit a snag Wednesday as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) announced that Congress would take off the month of August.
With just days left in July, GOP leaders issued guidance for U.S. House of Representatives members.
"Members are advised that votes are no longer expected in the House during the week of July 29, 2024," GOP leadership said. "Last votes for the week and month are now expected to take place tomorrow, Thursday, July 25, 2024 at approximately 10:45 a.m."
On Wednesday, House Republicans targeted Harris with an impeachment resolution just days after she became the de facto Democratic presidential nominee.
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) introduced the resolution, claiming Harris had shown "extraordinary incompetence" as "border czar."
The complaint also claimed Harris had committed high crimes and misdemeanors because she did not invoke the 25th Amendment after allegedly knowing that President Joe Biden was "cognitively impaired."

"Regardless of where you're at on the issue of immigration, we have a system that's broken and as the border czar she was charged with fixing it," Ogles told The Washington Times Tuesday.
The August recess comes as Congress pushes for oversight of investigations into the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Because apparently some House Republicans felt that they had not made sufficient jackasses out of themselves through their conduct in the House over the past 2 years…so they thought it would be a good idea to float this turd of an idea and see how far they could push it. Mike Johnson actually seems to do a reasonably decent job of protecting these idiots from themselves.
