Anybody here suffer from migraines? I know a couple of co-workers who suffer from migraines regularly.

"If migraines are a regular part of your life, you might want to pay extra attention to your heart health, too. Studies show that some folks who get migraines are also more likely to have strokes and heart attacks. If you have only occasional migraines, this may not be something you need to worry about.Mar 20, 2022"

Used to get bad ones, especially in my 20's and early 30's. The kind where you have to put out your cigarette (haven't smoked in 35 years), take pills, lie down in a dark room, and try to go to sleep.

Also found that holding a head massager against my temples would mask the pain.

Went to a specialist to have them checked out. They did many tests, including an electroencephalogram, which involved shaving small portions of my scalp to attach electrodes.

Doctor's profound diagnosis: "You get headaches!".

He prescribed Fiorinal (aspirin with codeine), Valium, and Cafergot (ergotamine & caffeine), which were the best they could do at that time. (1970's). I nicknamed them "The Big Three".

There are much better prescription drugs out there now...

His best advice was to take the pills asap when I started to feel a migraine coming on, cuz the longer you wait the harder it is to stop it.

He also said, and I found it to be true, that after age 40 or so they would likely stop, which they did for the most part.

Now if I get what I feel is the start of a headache, whether tension (in my neck or back of my head), or very unusual and mild migraine (temples or front of head), I take an Advil or Tylenol, both Extra Strength, and they go away in less than 20 minutes.

Btw even in my late 70's no stroke or heart attack yet...

I told one of my migraine sufferers that she might have a hole in her heart. She thought I was kidding but decided to get it checked anyway because she knows I am super intelligent and also would never kid about a hole in the heart.

BTW: The only time get a headache is when I try to talk reason to a wokie/leftie. LOL!

"What causes migraines remains poorly understood. But in some cases, the headache symptoms have been linked to a common hole in the heart called a patent foramen ovale, or PFO. Since 2000, numerous medical reports have indicated that repairing the hole can bring lasting migraine relief.Jul 11, 2023"

La la land
Nice suggestion by everyone.
From life experience I have never experience migraines. If I have may have had it twice and don't remember them.
Yet I been asked by Chiropractors, Osteopathy , massage therapist, Acupuncturist, MD, and priests.

Never have I say but I have a twisted back. They tell me most of their patients do have it. So either I am eating properly, Exercising, meditating or just lucky. Not on any Pharmacy drugs or nature drugs. So,,,, oh an I dress according to weather conditions, long Jong's and scarf. I wear a toque by Nov 15th to the April 15th.

So,,,,, I have no advice.

Got a job at age 40 that coincided with the onset of regular migranes which would start on the last day of the week and continue on through the weekend and through until the end of the first day back. Lying in a dark room with a wet towel over my forehead.
Finally got a prescription for imitrex. Wonder drug. $20.00 a pill but worth every penny. Luckily had medical coverage. Migrane gone in half an hour. However, they kept coming back so I was popping pills like they were.....pills.
Got out of that job age 60 which coincided with the cessation of the migranes.
For some people it must be a fuck up if meds don't work. Then what do you do?

I have heard there is a correlation between migraines and anxiety, tension, and resentment at a person's current situation, whether it be their job, personal relationships, or other mental factors.

I've been told that Imitrex can help, but also that there may be more recent and more effective drugs available.
