I recently loaded some Kodak docking station/printer software, which includes Quicktime. That damn quicktime seems to have hijacked my system every time I try to watch a short video off various sites. I would much prefer Media Player (Version 11, and I am using Vista).

Nothing I have tried seems to let me set up Media Play as my default player... any suggestions...?

On media player go to tools then options go to file types and it should list types of files you want allocated to media player. In quicktime you can go to edit then preferences then to quick time preferences again file types can be selected. If you click on the plus mark beside the type a list of file types will be listed. In both cases simply select the file types you want windows media player to play and which ones you want quicktime to play.
Essentially when loading these players for the first time you should allways choose a custom setup during installation since it will allow you to choose the file types you want associated with the player you are installing. Choosing a custom install allows the player to take over the majority of file types and make itself the default player.
