OK, I downloaded it and tried it.

My Mcafee program stopped a trojan horse that microshaft had included with it
The program will also override your homepage and plant theirs in its place

You also need to reinstall DIVX and XVID again because the spyware disabled mine

So after all that I'm gonna give it a few weeks and see if its worth it

In the laboratory.
I'm running w2k and I installed the programme without any hitches or any changes to my settings or homepage. I don't run DIVX or XVID so I can't comment on any snafus in that area.

What does Beta mean???????
MS beta usually means: an experimental version, not complete, in need of frequent and many repairs, fixes, updates, security holes to plug etc.......

Microsoft's beta versions are generally the one's released before "Second Edition" or "Service Pack 2".

What MS is offering is a rebranded version of an anti-spyware programme developed by Giant Software. Thus there shouldn't be the same MS glitches that we've come to know and love!

If it wasn't that I knew this ridiculous crap was legit, I'd have thought this was a gag thread. "Microsoft" and "Anti-Spyware"? :) The only time they're referred to together (instead of against each other) is in comedy.

Don't be stupid. Stay away from this crap. In fact, ANYTHING Microsoft wants you to do? (Like turning on "automatic updates", as they were pushing so hard for a few weeks ago.) Don't.

MS recommends you use with Norton or McAffee ........... LMAO Use AVG it is better then Norton as it doesn't mess with the system as much but the updates come as quickly.
I have little or no experience with McAffee for PC but have used McAffee on the MAC. Has anyone tried Sophos as i am using it in a managed environment for a client and it allows me to manage about 180 Macs and 30 PCs.

for spyware
use ad aware and spybot search and destroy together

for anti virus use AVG

all the above are highly rated and all are free for personal use
with support and constant updates

geeks endorse this stuff

Pretty different from my experience. I don't know what you mean by "adware/spyware/whateverware was installed".

Poor Mr. Bill. Just trying to make the world a better place and he gets nothing in return but abuse! <sniff>
