Maybe I'm getting my news from the wrong stations, but this is an issue that the Canadian media have been ignoring. I shouldn't have to get Canadian news from American sites.

Perhaps they *would* report if Iggy or Layton would only make an issue of it.

The dream of democracy and prosperity for all is dead........Harper is working with his big business allies in America and around the world to destroy the middle class and turn them into ignorant peasants ruled by the elite wealthy minority. So, enjoy the Biggest Loser folks, or just look in the mirror. The fact that Harper deals with obvious corruption like the Bev Oda scandal by lying, denying and dismissing criticism - and gets away with it........is telling.

Agree.
Makes me wonder who controls the media?

It's probably better than FAUX, the propaganda arm of the GOP....

He's right.

Harper didn't give a flying fuck about INCO, Dofasco, Stelco, Alcan, or Nortel. (All Ontario based.)

He only gave fuck about saving Potash (Western Based) He practically fell over himself to save Potash from a foreign takeover. (Strange how that works.)

Ontario is getting poorer and poorer under Harper. If you don't see that, you're blind.

The more I watch Harper, the more I despise him.

The only problem is that the liberals don't offer a viable alternative.

Couldn't say it better why the Tories could run the minority government for so long, say since 2005, without challenges. The alternatives are equally sucks.

Although it's comforting to know that at least one American has noticed there's a geographically larger country to their north, with a population as large as California's—and a not insignificant cross-border trade—that's worth looking at because they do some things up there differently, maybe better.

Kinda gives you hope for the country at large, that maybe they're not all gun-happy, blinkered xenophobes and screaming jingoes*. Gotta nurture your dissenting voices; that's what free speech is for.

*Disclaimer: My sweetie of decades is American; I'm personally convinced most don't fit the clichéd description above; it's meant only to be as overstated as train's, hinz's and others earlier.

It's obvious Harper is sucking up to the 'elite'.
He's not old enough to retire, so, he's looking for a new job when he gets kicked out of office in a couple of years.

Of course the libs are a viable alternative. Ontario has done well under Libs for DECADES, now we have become a have not province under Conservative leadership. Yet Ontarians now want to give this clown a majority. Serves us right. People who are worse off and vote for the guy that led them there deserve to be impoverished. Iggy isn't the best, but I would take a chance on him over a Harper majority.

Absolutely true.

I'm not going to vote for Harper, just wish I could vote for a guy like Paul Martin. (I believe Martin was a good man. Can't say the same about Harper.)

What a foolish comment. In case you haven't noticed the Liberals have had a majority in Ontario since 2003. But I guess they don't shoulder any of the blame.

For maybe the first time in my life I agree with fat bastard MM. Vale should immediately return the $1B they got from EDC if they are going to make these cuts.

We do not need this lard-ass mediocre Moore hypocrite in Canada and we are not enriched by his (Moore's) perspective on anything. While he potrays himself as the firend of the common man (much alike Layton) he is nothing but an avaricious, exploitative, cash grabbing pig. It is stunning just how many people who claim hteir own intelligence and independance of thinking, lap up Moore's crap dished out in his self hating documentaries.

As for Stvene Harper, he is a conservative and as such he is for business creating jobs - the takeover of Inco by Vale was a business deal that has worked out well - the mines are mining and Sudbury has not had it so good for a long time. The Potash deal was quite different from the Inco deal and to compare them is to admit your intellectual limitations.

As for Jack Layton - he has never done anything apart from being a media whore and a champagne socialist living of taxpayer funding - this guy has never had a real job !
