This was far from unexpected. I have no clue why he did not have it done before the season started... everyone told him he was just risking it more or going to cause further damage by playing.

...it was pretty stupid.

If he had done it last year when he first got word, he could have maybe come back later this season.

I am glad he came to his senses...he was really putting his career (and accordingly, millions of dollars) at risk...

I don't know why he did not get the surgery done earlier...
