Wow I just finished watching John McCain give one of the best speeches I've ever heard... he congratulates Obama ... but it was so much more than that... truly from the heart...

I always liked him from watching his appearances on John Stewart. That speech was great.

yes
had he spoken like that throughout his campaign he would have won the election.

It was thoughtful and gracious. He showed his inner spirit in his speech. This was something that he had not done in any previous speech.

Sarah Palin did not show her tits, so I was disappointed in her speech.

Did they even let her talk? McCain's speech was well done. Left with a touch of class, cant wait to see what Bush has to say

Yes It was gracious speech, but the best thing about his speech was the fact that it was a CONCESSION speech.

Goodbye to the party that gave birth to W the moron, and good fucking riddance.

I don't see where they have "gone" anywhere. They still polled nearly 50% of the vote nationwide and will be fighting any efforts to fix their mess every step of the way!

It is doubtful even if McCain could speak his best throughout his campaign that he would win the presidential race. McCain's defeat is not so much on him as a candidate but a condemnation of the inept Republican administration and politics from the votors and electorate. Any Republican presidential candidate's chance of winning the election is sharply diminished by just associating with the Republican party and that moronic Bush.

Goodbye from the White House. W has been behind the wheel for 8 years and beat the shit out of the car 100 times worse than any rental has ever been beaten, damn near turned it into a total loss. GOODBYE and GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE.

Eversince the 11pm announcement, I have not stopped wiping tears off my face mostly for humane, civil accomplishment and also for glince of hope for the future generations.

Either if you are American citizen or not, it should be a true proud moment for us all.

I don't know if he would have won, but it probably would have been closer.

It's unfortunate that the real John McCain we've come to know and respect didn't show up until his concession speech. Yes, it was a great speech.

As a conservative leaning Canadian I am pleased to see this result. Truly, the United States needs a drastic and visible change of leadership after the last eight years.

All the colour stuff aside, Barak Obama seems like a decent guy that will inspire plenty of people. Sure, no matter what there are going to be almost half of the US hating that a black democrat won but they did the same when Clinton did etc. The big difference is that Obama seems to be able to motivate younger people to do something.

That's a good thing in my books...
Very well said.

Agreed. McCain showed class and dignity, and I believe history will remember him a great American. His time was in 2000. Obama's speech was great as well, and moved me to tears. He made an effort to start the healing between the parties right away, and move forward together as one nation.

McCain is a decent and honourable guy.

This is a case of bad timing. America is still a conservative place, make no mistake about that, however, disgust with the current administration is so extreme that people turned out in droves to vote against the Republican party. The Republicans have been DESTROYED in the house, the Senate, and the Executive.

I feel like we are emerging from 8 years of living in the dark ages.
