There have been 411's in the past regarding the location of Cougar Bars in Ottawa and this one is repeatedly mentioned. After a long hard day of work on both Wed. and Friday I stopped in to check out the situation. Was there at 10:30pm. Went upstairs and the place was hopping and the crowd was between 18-40ish with by far the majority in their 20's. Appeared to be a few Cougars but I don't think they were into being picked up. They left on their own. Definitely did not strike me as a pick-up joint.. But the music was good and I had a good time watching. So I left and went to the bar downstairs to see if this is where the Cougars hang out. Even on this beautiful Friday night the bar was almost empty. Decided to have a beer anyway as the plasma tv. was looking good. Now something happened and, as I have not been in the pick-up scene for a long time, I'm wondering what you guy's think. Here is what happened.
There was this couple sitting at the bar and I sat at the elbow of the bar facing them. As I was sitting myself I got the feeling that the lady might be interested as I thought she was checking me out but did nothing to "horn" in on the guy's date. Probably just my vanity acting up anyway. So I'm talking to the bartender about the plasma tv and she makes a point to get involved. So we start talking and she seems quite lovely... and cute!! I'm 1/2 way through my beer when he decides he want to leave. I think he is getting pissed. As she goes by me she makes a point to make eye contact and say goodbye. I smiled and they left. So the question, was she interested? It seems to me a little unusual for a woman out with her date to make a point in getting into conversation with a strange man. Or am I just out of it here?
