I like the Five Deadly Venoms by the Shaw Brothers my buddies and I loved this one as kids watching it on Saturday Afternoons from Buffalo.

A movie about 5 guys who each know a different style based on animals.

Obviously dated but a good one.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Hero are nice as they have great production value, budget etc but guessing you're probably seen those.

If into Samurai I like the Lone Wolf and Cub series.

yes, I've seen those ones.

But does anyone know the name of this recent movie. I think it is a Taiwanese film, where a police squad has to make it up several floors to get to the mob boss. Well that's what I think it's about from what I remember from the trailers.

For pure martial arts:

- Fist of Fury
- Enter the Dragon
- Ip Man

For Jackie Chan martial arts:

- Project A
- Drunken Master
- Police Story 1,2
- Rush Hour

For over the top martial arts:

- Iron Monkey
- Kung Fu Hustle

That should give you a good start.

martial arts movies these days suck.. to much effects and fake shit.. You need to watch old flicks to really appreciate martial arts

My favourite - Way of the Dragon - by the obvious master, Bruce Lee, shot in the eternal city - Rome.

Here's a scene of him surprising everyone as they think he's just an inexperienced new helper/dish washer in the restaurant.

I think you are talking about "SPL; Shar Po Lang" aka "Kill Zone" starring Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen. See para 2000s here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sammo_Hung

That was a great film with a lot of MMA actions at the end.

Before Bruce Lee , Jimmy Wang Yu was the martial arts movie draw in HK, this is the film that made him a star, " The One Armed Swordsman"
