Today, March 8, is International Women's Day across the planet(most countries observe this day).
It began in Soviet Union/Russia of all places.
I believe it was determined in 1910 that March 8 would be the day. In the years leading up to 1910 it was observed on different days in different countries.
The movement itself still has a ways to go, depending on who you talk to I guess.

Here is to the ladies in my life and the ladies of TERB. Thank you !

I will pay a little extra respect to women today.

To all the women out there ... have a great day.

Actually IWD got its start in the U.S., however, you are correct that the Soviet Union made a very big deal of it. It was largely due to its adoption by European Socialist movements and the Soviets that it died out in the U.S. and Canada.
