Canada Packers (Maple Leaf) is now doing heavy advertising on their products. They will have a long way to go before customer confidence returns.

It is just a matter of time before people forget all about it and it becomes a trusted household name again... Look at Tylenol

But Tylenol had nothing to do with the deaths, ML was just plain negligent.

Maple Leaf is a Canadian Company, they are the largest supplier of meat in Canada. They buy from local vendors and promote themselves in local community events. They admitted to the problem, they are aware of how it happened, and I believe that they are doing their best to avoid repeating this from happening again.

Us Canadians have become dependent on processed meat and the only alternative is to buy from our neighbours to the South.

I am willing to give Maple Leaf foods another chance.

Companies make mistakes. I don't think for one moment that anyone at Maple Leaf Foods wanted that outbreak to occur. The irony is that at the time, the company was undergoing some cost saving measures in order to compete with products brought in from China and other countries. This of course was due to consumer demand for lower prices across the board. I always, at the end of the day, place much of the blame on the 'blissfully ignorant' consumer. It's their $$$ that dictate how companies behave. In the end the consumer gets what they pay for.

Anyway, my opinion is similar to Tungstens. Buy their products and move on.

Yeah but this company now has 10 -20 'blissfully ignorant' dead customers.

Do you think I feel sorry? Actually I do because most of the dead aren't the blissfully ignorant I refer to, but seniors at homes where the food was bought for and served to them. The rest I could care less about.

Somewhere but not here.
Maple Leaf products will more likely be safer than any other similar products since they likley don't wan't or couldn't afford a repeat of this. The other companies are probably thinking it could never happen to them.

Wallace and Archie McCain split up the family potato fortune.
Archie got $1B from OTPF to buy MLF. He promptly shut down all the primary pork producing plants and laid off all the unionized workers and recinded the collective bargaining agreement. He immediately opened the plants again and offered everyone their jobs back at 2/3 salary. All this with the full backing of the Ontario Teacher's Union.

maple leaf foods followed all required procedures for processing their products. Something that nobody thought of caused several deaths and a lot of illness. The problem has been corrected. I by Maple leaf all the time and will continue to do so. Other options include meats sourced form overseas. All my favourite flavours, melamine, antifreeze, lead.....

The list goes on ,

He then appointed his dumb ass son as Pres and the son goes on to kill old people with his bacteria laden meat ....
