I’m sorry, but if it were me in this situation, it would take me everything not to yell at this manager and throw my phone at his face.

I would be really upset at losing everything on my phone, but would be understanding if the manager owned up to his mistake, explained what happened, apologized, and tried to find a solution and offer compensation.

This was way beyond unacceptable customer service. He should be at minimum fired on the spot.

La la land
Something like this almost happened to me in Japan airport when switching sim cards, this is way back 10 years ago when Cell service is not the same as today.

My icons and settings some how became alphabetize in order as opposed to Factory Default list which I learn how to find things quickly.

Last week at Freedom the sales clerk was kind of lost with his terminal, I told him I would install the sim card myself.
I have a habit of backing up my files to the PC before going to any Cell store place even for a cover.

He must be the T-Mobile CEO… since no one is above him!
Love the “You messed up” at the end… his brain was overheating and ALL he was thinking was self-preservation!

Hate it when people don't video record in Landscape mode, can't see the manager's face and body movements 95% of time. And what's with the counter and floor being the centre of the video?

He probably formatted her phone.
He didn't know what he was doing. lmao.
You'd be better off watching a few YouTube videos for tech help than taking it to the store.

Always backup your phone/computers before handing it over to a minimum wage "tech" at a retail store.

Cloud backup is fine for everyday updates, but you should be doing an occasional (quarterly) offline backup to your PC. Also never encrypt the back up to your personal computer, you're just setting yourself up for headaches later.

When I heard Napster was closing down, I panic downloaded tons of irretrievable, hard to find songs. Amazing collection of obscure. Took my computer into a small store for a minor fix. When I got it back it was formatted. The guy just shrugged.
However the guy in the original post needs a smack down.
