... imagine how many gamers would take this seriously and actually would want to follow suit.

I now pronounce you husband and what?!

In another sign that the world is about to collapse, multiple blogs are reporting that a fan of the Nintendo DS dating sim Love Plus (you know, the really creepy one) liked his virtual lady so much that he decided to marry her. For real.

Apparently, a Japanese gamer known as 'Sal9000' was officially wed to Nene Anegasaki, one of the game's three virtual girlfriends, in what must have been the weirdest ceremony in the history of ceremonies. We can only assume that Ms. Pac-Man was the maid of honor.

While the two aren't planning a honeymoon -- after all, one of them is a VIDEO GAME -- they did hold a small 'reception' in Japan for friends, family and the media, indicating that this is most likely little more than the looniest video game publicity stunt we've seen in some time. Check out this video recap by Boing Boing, complete with footage of the happy, er, couple:

First-ever marriage between man and videogame character in Japan: Nintendo DS "Love Plus"

He just got the idea from William Gibson's cyberpunk novel "Idoru".

Big deal... not hurting anybody.

Just something for him to consider: Why can't he deal with real humans? Instead of addressing those issues, why delve into the fantasy to that extent?

... I think there are tons more that dig that idea.

Have you seen videos of men collecting anime love dolls as girl friends ? This is just the beginning, however fucked up it seems.

There may be BIG $ in this shit, think about mainstream web store that takes you CC to sell you virtual things for your virtual GF, similar to what we have for some mainstream online games .

In North America, there's a sub culture of digital GF fans. Initially only limited to dudes that are in or into the filed of computer animations. It is amazing, you get to choose and buy any config of your virtual GF from fellow animators/stores. Almost like building your own PC according to your personal config preference.

Here is one:

way out in left field
LOL How do you know when your virtual girlfriend is ready to be deleted?

When you log on and she complains that you haven't cleaned up your desktop for a while and you have to defrag your hard drive and her inbox is full of spam........

LOL.....some people's kids.

But yeah, you could make millions from this. All you have to do is sell them a PICTURE of clothes, not actual clothes lol.......

Agreed. It's obvious this guy has problems with approaching women but in the end, he isn't hurting anyone.
