As a tinnitus sufferer I'm lucky to only have it bad in one year. I guess severe would be in both ears. Can't say I've ever gotten to the point of suicide but in both ears might be a different story. Very successful and generous man from the sounds of it. Didn't go to the government for a handout either. I'm not sure if they can measure loudness for different people.

I have mild tinnitus, probably masked by exterior noise when I'm busy, and only noticeable if I think about it.

One thing I have noticed is it worsens if I listen to loud music, especially though headphones or earbuds. After I do that it definitely becomes much more obvious even without me having to think about it. To me it sounds like white noise, so thankfully not a "ringing" sound...

I seem to get ear ringing after taking a snooze sometimes. Went to a specialist. He claimed everybody has some tinnitus and that mine could have been from a stressful period of life. I will admit that I did have that and that it is better than it was.

I have what some call degenerative tinnitus (and Im only 30) and it is a nightmare, it has been getting progressively worst over the years. Its not something I would commit suicide over but it is debilitating that I can see why some people do end their life. I do have a ringing sound and sometime when Im really stress it does sound like those old alien movies sound
. Let me tell you when its this bad it does make you go up the wall
