They should stick to doing what they're best at
I tend to agree.

In this case, it seemed more like she was speaking up on behalf of the people who had opened her show.

Between a rock and a hard place
And the informed rebuttal

"I jeered her because it seemed false what she was telling us. What business does she have telling us these things?" said Ionut Dinu, 23.

"Madonna is a pop star. She is not an expert on interethnic relations," he said.

Euro-trash ignormamuses ghetto-izing an entire race and telling the world it's none of their business and they dont understand? Reminds me of another regime that failed. Where's Dubya when you need him?

Err, for the first time in my life, I think I might actually start to like MAdonna. She was actually restrained and classy, both in raising the topic and in the low key way she briefly mentioned it and then did not react to the audience booing.

And she was doing it for the people she met who were performing in her show.

Madonna 1, Romania 0.

In Europe they don't boo, they whistle.. If you ever watch a football game you'll notice it.. they do that after her first comment..

I used to live in England, I can assure you they boo in Europe also.
Maybe not in Romania though

I admit I've not been to a game, but why is it that you always hear whistling instead? I remember even watching a hockey game on TV that was in Europe and the commentator explained to the audience that fans don't boo here, they whistle.

I know in England people go boo (I lived there too), but for football games I always hear whistling on the very rare occasion that I watch one.

Good for Madonna. We need more people to take stands against injustice in the world. That being said, I wouldn't bother going to one of her concerts.

Have any of you ever had the priviledge of dealing with Roma/Gypsies? They're among the most culturally fucked ever.

I wonder how many posting in praise of Madonna, also have also posted about "the Ugly American" or the "Ugly Canadian"? It seems that Madonna falls right into that trap.

Eastern Europe is a very different place from the U.S., Canada or the U.K.

I heard gypsies are chronic criminals and constantly plot ways of ripping people off.

Not sure if that is true, thats just what I heard

Rant on:

It's for reasons like these that I generally despise humanity and wish everyone would die.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Rant off.

Seem to recall Hitler and his cohorts said the same about Jews awhile back!

All Madonna did basically was speak out against still widespread discrimination Roma/Gypsies still suffer from and bigoted racists in the audience booed her!
It also was reported some more tolerant folks did commend Madonna for her stance against current Roma/Gypsies ongoing discrimination.

That is also my opinion.

Regardless, she is an entertainer. People buy her tickets to hear her sing, not listen to her spout her political opinions. If she wants to voice her political opinions in public she, being a celebrity, can issue a press release containing them. The concert goers were right to jeer at her. Pop stars think because they are famous people give two hoots about what they believe or not...they don't. They just like their music.

Married and divorced one. While she and her family did nothing to dispel this stereotype, I am sure it does not apply to all of them. They deserve better than to be persecuted with the world watching.

Shut up and sing.

People are tired of these self-righeous celebrities that get involved in "causes" that they know nothing about.

The crowd was right to boo her after she criticizes them for how they treat gypsies.
