i have been following the news the last couple of days and seen the news stories[ bad or good] about the farmer in Alberta. I would like to know if anyone inthe terb community has quit eating beef because of it. My self i wouldnt hesitate to go to the butcher in Cambellville and order me a 2 inch thick ribeye and eat that thing good and rare.

Fortunately I do not eat beef. Phew!!! I do on occasions savor some polarbear.

It takes 8 years for a cow to develop symptoms of Mad Cow disease.
Cow's are slated for slaughter around the 30 month range.
The disease is concentrated in the brain and spinal column of the cow. Not the most common part of the cow that's eaten.

I wouldn't let it stop me from enjoying a steak, but I don't know if that's the real issue. We're asking for trouble rearing livestock the way we do, essentially feeding them parts of themselves. It's gross.
