If they were trying to build a legal case against the guy - she probably destroyed it. I also think she risked herself and possibly her daughter as she has no idea just what kind of nut case she may be dealing with.

If it was my daughter - there are questions that need answering .. " she found messages from the man on her daughter's phone asking her to meet him." So how was it this guy had her daughter's phone number ? Lucky guess ? Of course it is a little easier to be rational without an actual confrontation but if you confronted him in your home ... There are many other ways to communicate via message other than phone number. These creeps will send random messages to kids on Snapchat, instagram etc and begin then luring that way.

The guy also had the address of her daughter. Apparently the
mom lured the guy to come over by setting him up to meet her
daughter at their house. Something is not right.

I thought the mom gave him the address - which I guess would be rather dumb - hopefully she didn't. I am a littler confused - this guy wasn't randomly guessing phone numbers. How did the mom know it wasn't a school friend ? I have a hunch the daughter was communicating with him and the mom picked up on it just in time. They should have school courses for kids on the social net. How many kids realise that the Justin Beiber text could be a 50 year old balding pervert ?

Foresight....maybe the mom saved her child life. That person could have been a Paul Berando type rapist / child murder if she didn't do anything . Cops sometimes make mistakes or sometimes not good enough to catch serial killer in time... just like in Toronto gay serial killer" Bruce McArthur" who killed 8 victims before the cop catches him. Maybe mom action really saved her daughter life!

giving him the address of the daughter would have been
a dumb thing for the mom to do. Bernardo would have
been way too smart to fall into such trap.

Did you guys read the article?
The mother went to the cops and was informed that there is an existing investigation on the suspect. Due to this, she was told to avoid going through with her sting.
If anything, she possibly screwed up the case that was being built up to capture the idiot (as indicated by IM469).
