Divorce activity in Canada hit 47-year low during pandemic, StatCan says

In a new report on divorces, StatCan tracked a general decrease in the number of marriages ending each year since 1991, with 2020 seeing the lowest number of divorces in 47 years.

I know a few couples that are unofficially divorced but still living together for the sake of kids and or expenses. Unfortunately, both parties splitting the sale of a now million dollar property in the 'burbs can't really find a suitable place to buy for what they walk away with.

From experience, start over, the sooner the better. Financial reasons are not good for your health.
If anything it provides motivation to recover from the huge hit. It might take 6-7 years but it's possible. Plus much better sex, free to try and find a GF, free to move to a new neighbourhood.

Then , next might be unemployed realtors once interest rate hikes start to take hold.
Think of the poor audi and bmw and mercedes leasing agencies awash in turned in leases when the number of real estate closings start to fall
Or bank repo'd houses get moved on a fixed and cheap realtor commission that the bank dictates.
