I'm in my mid twenties and i've been experiencing hair loss (from the sides). My doctor says it's because I have high levels of androgen. He prescribed Rogaine. WTF? Rogaine already? My dad and his brother are both in there mid 50's along with my uncles and they all have great full heads of hair, so i've come to the conclusion it's not genetics. Any suggestions other than Rogaine?

Dont be stupid, you've basically got Rogaine or Propecia, either one will greatly slow down your MPB process.

If money is an object then go to Buffalo and pick up Rogaine for 10 bucks a bottle!

Give it some thought. Loosing your hair is pretty minor compared to all that can go wrong with a body.

Bruce Willis, Ed Harris and Sean Connery all seem to do pretty well.

There will soon be something on the market that will make Rogaine (or minoxidil) obsolete. Trust me on that!

Rogaine is considered the K-CAR of hair regrowth.

Some of the next patents are already based on that, and the next generation of Rogaine will be patterned on these improvements.

Until then you have to be patient.

I'd give it no more then 3 or 4 years.

Alot of hair loss is dependent on genetic triggers, stress, and additives to our food.

However you can give your self a better fighting chance to retain as much as you can by keeping the pores of your scalp clean from sebum build up.

Research good naturally-based cleansing aggents and minimize the use of styling products. It will probably slow your shedding a little bit, and consequently help lower some of the stress over it.

?? Has anyone had experiences with that NIOXIN stuff ??

I learned from one of my classes that if you experience hair loss, it could because there's something wrong with your pituitary gland. Another reason could be because you're low in iron. Be careful taking iron pills though because it's VERY, (and I mean VERY), easy to overdose on it. Good sources of iron are red meat, leafy green veggies, and if I remember correctly, cherries. Oh, and spinch especially. Or was it kale?

BTW, I heard from one of my clients that one of my ex-bosses is now selling hair loss products (among other things). Anyways, my client told me he bought a hair loss cream ($150) from him and my ex-boss told him to rub some ginger on his bald spot before going to bed every night and apply the cream after that. (His bald spot is REALLY bald. There's NO HAIR there AT ALL.) So my client was all excited and he went home and did it for about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, he was all excited because one little tiny hair popped up where his bald spot was. BUT THEN, 2 days later, the little hair fell off and there was a big pimple there instead!!! And nothing else has popped up since. He told me he was SOOOOOO pissed off..... And it had to be one of those with pus in in too!!!

So yeah... if someone approaches and tells you they used to own a MP but is now selling hair loss products... don't bother buying them!!!... they don't work.

Thanks for all youre replies. I've heard of Nioxin, a friend of mine uses it. It's a shampoo or something available at any drugstore. I think i'm going to start using Rogaine which seems to be the best solution right now.

If I really start losing alot, hair transplant I guess. $$$

Thanks dude, good to hear. I figure I'm good for another 3-4 so the timing will be perfect.

Keep your hair short. It's a more modern look.
Stop fretting over it. It won't grow your hair back.
well said dude

Nioxin is a waste of money.

I really like my hair. It keeps my head warm in the winter and prevents my scalp from burning in the summer.

Been on Propecia/Proscar since 1998. Cost is under $200 a year. 90% regrowth. I highly recommend. Finastride, the active ingredient is turning out to be a wonder drug. Depending on the dosage, it can be used to regrow hair, treat prostate problems, lower blood pressure or be used as a masking agent in professional sports.

My results are not typical. I would suggest you look at it for maintaining your current hair or slight to moderate regrowth.

Hi, I am only 30 and balding from the sides. I heard that Rogaine is strictly for those experience baldness from the crown. Are there any effective treatments for my condition?
